Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels are treatments where an acid solution is used to remove the outer layers of the skin. Peels are usually taken as a course of 4-6 administered at approximately 2 weekly intervals.

As they exfoliate the skin, they remove sun damaged, pigmented skin, and fine lines and wrinkles. They are also wonderful for active acne, and removing acne scarring from the face, chest and back.

Chemical Peels are a very ancient treatment. Our Victorian ancestors would have applied buttermilk containing lactic acid to reduce the appearance of freckles. And of course, Cleopatra is famous even today, for bathing in milk to rejuvenate her skin.

Peels vary in depth (strength) due to their composition, the number of layers applied and the length of time left on the skin. We use a multi-acid, multi-enzyme peel and tailor it to your requirements. For two weeks after each treatment a skin cream with an SPF 50 should be used. A patch test prior to the first peel is essential.
